Kick ass hilarious Cartoon & Scientology

Not everyone likes the show South Park, which I understand. The humor at times can be crude, immature, and offensive. I completly get why some people don’t like it. That being said I also feel that South Park has some of the most creative storylines. This is especially true when they take current events and put a fresh perspective on it. That’s what i love about the show. If you are into that immature offensive humor then this show is great. If you like a more intellectual/sardonic quality to your humor than this show has that as well. The show also addresses a lot of political issues in a humorous way without ever really picking a side. So it has something for everyone, and for some it has a lot of everything.

Last nights episodes was one of the best ever. There were so many little hidden jabs at celebrities that I felt I needed to write about it. The set up for the episode was that Stan went to a Scientology place and became a Scientologists. Scientology was in the news a lot several months ago when Tom Cruz tried to say that physcology is a psedu-science, and most of it isn’t real, and drugs like prozac, lithium, and the like are dangerous and should never be needed. Then everyone found out that his beliefes came from being a scientologist. then everyone asked what it means to be a scientologist.

In the episode it is revealed to Stan what the beliefes of scientology are. since it’s a cartoon the average person who had no prior knowledge of scientology would have watched this part and thought “Bullshit, that’s funny but no organized religion would believe that and tout it as being fact/science”. So at the bottom of the screen there was an actually message that read “This is really what scientologists believe”. I’ve done several google searches and saw multiple tv shows where they discuss their beliefes so it wasn’t something south park made up. Well here it is in short:

Xenu, the galactic tyrant who first kidnapped certain individuals who were deemed “excess population” and loaded these individuals into space planes for transport to the site of extermination, the planet of Teegeeack (Earth). These space planes were supposedly exact copies of Douglas DC-8s. He then stacked hundreds of billions of these frozen victims around Earth’s volcanoes 75 million years ago before blowing them up with hydrogen bombs and brainwashing them with a “three-D, super colossal motion picture” for 36 days. The traumatized thetans subsequently clustered around human bodies, in effect acting as invisible spiritual parasites known as “body thetans” that can only be removed using advanced Scientology techniques. Xenu is allegedly imprisoned in a mountain by a force field powered by an eternal battery.

I should note at this time that the founder of this religion is L Ron Hubbard. L Ron hubbard was a science fiction writer. It should aslo be noted that to be a member of Scientology you have to pay tributes, and the higher level of scientology you want to get to, the more money you have to spend. There have been cases of people loosing hundreds of thousands of dollars in an attempt to gain enlightenment. In germany and several other countries Scientology is by their goverment standards concidered a cult.

Any way. At one point in the show Tom Cruz gets so upset that he locks himself in the closet. This sets off a whole “Tom Cruz won’t come out of the closet” running gag. If you don’t already know a lot of people accuse tom cruz of being gay, so there is a double entandra here. (I know that’s not spelled right but if you don’t know what that word is, it’s because your stupid not because of my spelling) Then R. kelly shows up to comment on Tom Cruz being in the closet, so he sings something similar to his recent song about being in the closet. This was the funniest part to me because it sounded just like the real song, plus in the cartoon he would whip out his gun for no reason just like in the song/video on MTV/VH1.

The whole thing ends with stan telling the world that scientology is a fraud, only after the chief scientologist tells him as much. Then all the scientologists get mad at Stan for putting down the religion and making fun of them. They then all threaten to sue Stan. Stan then say “Bring it on, Sue Me”. And so they yell back and forth with the scientologists saying they are going to sue, and stand saying that he wants them to sue. FYI when a couple of tv shows were making fun of scientology a couple months ago during the tom cruz thing, the church of scientology actually threatened to sue. Knowing this you could tell the people who make this cartoon were actually daring the scientologists to sue them.

The best part is when the credits start to roll, instead of having all of the normal names of the directors producers, animators, etc.. they had the names John Smith, or Jane Smith down for every job. I’m assuming the joke was, If they really do sue us then they will only have the names john and jane smith to come after, and those are the most common names in the us.

This was funny to me on so many different levels.
Ok I have to work again.
